A couple of weeks ago, Elevation gave $100,000 to one of our partnerships through the form of scholarships and laptops! It was a really cool event and moment as Pastor Steven Furtick spoke to the girls who were graduating from the program. Here is a video we showed in our services to give Elevation a view of what happened.
Last week we sent our interns downtown to film a support piece to show behind our bands as they played “Rise” by Robbie Seay Band. They really knocked it out. Enjoy:

I have been off from work since Thursday at 5:30. As staff, we had this Friday off, and I am taking the first Sunday off since January. Laci and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary (gifts welcomed) (just kidding) (sort of). I had every intension of relaxing around the house and just hanging out with my beautiful amazing wife. However, I figured out something very disappointing. I figured it out after telling Laci everything I was about to do. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I had an epiphany. Or… maybe Laci just came right out and said it, “you suck at relaxing.” She was right. Whoops. I got caught.
Not sure if it is just my personality, or my job, or if i am just use to going, going, going. So… I put up everything that i could possibly be doing, and went to the pool to layout with Laci. It was nice. I fixed my problem. We went on a relaxing date. Yay, everything solved! But then… When we got home, I looked down at our sidewalk and noticed some weeds growing, told laci that tomorrow we should work around the yard together… whoops again… i still suck at relaxing. To be continued…
Wanted to share a video with you that we used in a worship service that was a support piece to the band. A lot of times people put their best foot forward while working on videos that will be the main focus of the moment while just putting something together if it is a support piece. Well, this video is an example of putting a lot of time and work into something that was simply support to our bands who rocked out the song My Hero by the FOO Fighters. This is a video that was shown at one of our campuses. The other campus had the exact same video but with a different musician. The musician you see in the video, is the worship leader who was playing at our campus that day. I put the song with the video so you could hear the two together. When we used it, the video was synced to a click track which the band played with. Enjoy.
Not sure how it happens, but it is sometimes possible to have the worst video shoot ever. Now of course there was the time Larry Hubatka and I went on a video shoot together, got to the end of it, and then realized that one of the two cameras (the main one, the one with all the audio coming into it) was never recording. That was with our Pastor after we had driven an hour away to shoot on sight at an abandoned warehouse. Pretty bad I know. (That should be encouraging to some of you to know that yes it does happen).
However, what i am talking about is much worse. I’m talking about the video shoot that is suppose to last for 5mins because we are making a 30 sec to 1 minute clip with a group of guys that are in front of thousands of people weekly. Should be easy right? Well, that brings me to my point. This video was the best and worst video shoot ever. The best because of the 1, 2, 3 guys that it was with. The worst because it took 2 hours of Hard Drive space to capture the literally 1min clip that we used on sunday. And to give you an idea of why it took so long, i pulled a clip from the shoot so that you could enjoy!
So this blog is an old blog that used to be at the bottom of the blog, but due to spammers, i had to delete the old one… so here it goes again:
So you need to make a video, you have an end outcome in mind?… how in the world do you get there? … Well, dive in! So many of my projects seem to be the worst thing ever made in the history of videos. However, as you work through your project pay attention to the small details. Bunker down and know that you are in it for the long hall. Find one small area that you can improve on. Then find another and another… i think you see where this is going… pretty soon you go back and look at your timeline to find that each small step led to another which eventually gave you a fairly solid outcome! Just because you don’t know how to now… doesn’t mean you won’t in a few hours!
Everyone needs a Buck Buhler in their lives. Buck helped me unload my POD into my new house last night. Of course we had to do it before dark, (long story) but apparently you have to call the electric company prior to moving in! Whoops.
So w eee got back from the beach. It was so amazing because there were no schedules, and fresh bright sunshine! I have a video in the works of our trip. I’ll post that really soon!
Well, this will probably be my last post for a week because i am headed to Panama City Beach, FL! Laci and I are headed down south with Chris and Beth and Mack and Meredith! Plan to go snorkling at shell island, catch big fish and do nothing while eating and watching Enchanted every night from 5-7. If you try to call and we don’t answer it is because we are all jet lagged as we are driving 10 hrs and we are 1 hour behind there. So, sorry for not answering the call… in fact i think florida made a state wide rule… no cell phones. So we’ll catch up when i get back!
A couple of years ago i was in Japan and met some guys that were unbelievable break dancers. So i thought… hey i’m going to give that a shot. So… for the next hour the guys were teaching me some stuff. Needless to say, i didn’t quit my job to go on the road or to film “you got served.”
Right after that second picture was taken, i fell on my head. But hey, it was fun while it lasted.
